There’s increasing speculation over how Katie Holmes will fund her life after Tom Cruise’s child support cheques come to an end.
Their daughter Suri Cruise is about to turn 18 years old and will reportedly be off to college later in the year, AKA she will no longer qualify as a minor in need of financial support from dad.
Because of this, rumours and reports have been popping up all over the show, claiming that Katie is preparing for a change in finances, including looking for work and potentially writing a tell-all memoir, according to The Things:
Earlier this month, a report was released claiming Katie has been getting around $30,000-$40,000 in monthly child support since her divorce from Tom in 2012. But with that about to come to an end, the report said Katie was anxious to sign onto new projects.
This swell in speculation over what the mom of one will do for money all of a sudden has prompted her to speak out via her lawyer to deny the rumours and assure fans she’s doing just fine.
I mean, it’s not like she was a stay-at-home mom solely dependent on Tom, jeez.

Holmes’ attorney Jonathan W. Wolfe released a statement, saying “The story is riddled with falsehoods. One would hope there would be more newsworthy items to cover, and publications would avoid reporting as ‘facts’ claims from anonymous sources peddling such obvious misrepresentations.”
Katie has starred in a variety of projects in recent years, including The Secret: Dare to Dream, Alone Together, and most recently, 2023’s Rare Objects.

That ‘source’ seemed to think this would not be enough, though:
“For years, Katie’s enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, thanks to Tom’s consistent support,” a source said to In Touch. “But as their child nears adulthood, both mother and daughter are facing an uncertain future. It’s a terrifying prospect — going from an amazing standard of living to a question mark overnight!”
The insider also suggested that Katie might contemplate sharing the details of her marriage with Cruise in a memoir. Their divorce proceedings wrapped up quickly, with reports indicating that Tom agreed to Katie’s request for primary custody of their only child. Rumours at the time suggest that Cruise’s commitment to Scientology played a role in their split.
In light of Tom being high up in that top secretive organisation, there have been hints that Katie signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) during their divorce. However, this could be nearing expiration as their daughter approaches adulthood.
“She’s actively looking for roles and is eager to throw herself back into the industry full-time,” the source continued. “And don’t forget the non-disclosure agreement she signed — it’s set to expire, too. If things get tough, Katie could cash in by penning a tell-all book!”
A host of other celebs have managed to secure substantial advances for their memoirs, with reflections on their fame, influence, and the potential marketability of their stories in huge demand.
Take, for example, Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming, which purportedly received an advance of approximately $65 million, marking it as one of the priciest memoir deals ever struck. Likewise, Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography Born to Run allegedly secured an advance ranging from $10 million to $12 million.
Katie could totally cash in on this if she’s looking for high-paying work.
