Breathtaking dashcam footage posted online on Saturday showed what it’s like being trapped in an avalanche of massive boulders as they cascaded down a Peruvian slope.
In the terrifying footage, large, fast-moving rocks can be seen smashing a truck aside like a bowling pin, sending it flying into the air and flipping it on its side. Fortunately, the drivers of the vehicles survived.
Heavy rainfall in the area has been blamed for destabilising the ground on the slopes of the San Mateo mountains. Landslides and rockfalls in this area are not uncommon, with dozens of people being killed from landslides due to steady rain.
The footage below just proves how terrifying these rockfalls can be.
