Our embattled deputy president, Paul Mashatile, may have let slip this year’s election date this weekend when he was addressing a crowd during one of the ANC’s ‘Better Life for All’ comedies.
In a video shared on social media, Mashatile can be seen addressing the public when he had a slip of the tongue, accidentally announcing a possible election date of 24 May.
“We must go out there, united with one common purpose, to ensure that come the 24th of May, or somewhere around there, when we go to the elections…”
Opposition parties have been urging the president to announce the date, but so far there has been no official pronouncement. Perhaps Cyril will get a move on now that Mashatile let the cat out of the bag.
