West Indies cricketer Fabian Allen is among numerous international cricketers who have journeyed to South Africa to participate in South Africa’s SA20 League.

Unfortunately, a terrible event occurred at Johannesburg’s Sandton Sun Hotel, when Allen was forcibly robbed of his phone and personal luggage at gunpoint.

South Africa has become a critical centre for cricket, notably due to the growing popularity of the SA20 League, which is largely fueled by the presence of acclaimed T20 cricket personalities competing in the tournament. Allen journeyed to South Africa to participate in this tournament, playing for the Paarl Royals, when this unfortunate scene occurred.

SA20 and Paarl Royals authorities verified the incident, while Cricket West Indies (CWI) officials assured that Allen was unharmed by the assailants, reported CricFit:

“Our head coach Andre Coley, also hailing from Jamaica, reached out to Fabian. Contact was successfully established through Obed McCoy (another West Indies international). He is fine. CSA (Cricket South Africa) and his team, Paarl Royals, could share more details if there are any,” a top CWI official said.

Not a good look, SA:

Last night, the SA20 playoffs kicked off in Cape Town with Durban Super Giants facing Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Qualifier 1. Paarl Royals will compete today in the Eliminator against Joburg Super Kings in Johannesburg.

We hope Fabian Allen can put the recent incident behind him and concentrate fully on the Paarl Royals’ knockout match.
