Black-ish star Anthony Anderson has been in Cape Town filming his latest movie, G20.
The American actor found himself in the emergency room after an on-set accident while shooting a fight sequence for this upcoming action film. At least the comedian found the humour in the gnarly situation, joking about the chair that put him in the ER.
Last week, the recent Emmys host posted a photo on Instagram of himself smiling and flashing a peace sign while lying in a hospital bed.
“I spent the night in the emergency room. Movie set fight gone wrong. Me against two goons and a chair! Guess who didn’t win!” Anderson wrote.
Shame, dude:

Cape Town ETC noted that he tagged his location on the post as ‘Cape Town, South Africa’, where his upcoming movie, G20, is scheduled to be filmed.
G20 is an upcoming action thriller surrounding a terrorist strike at the annual G20 summit, produced by and starring Viola Davis. Anderson’s role has not been revealed yet.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Anderson did not sustain any serious injuries from the fight. Still, Anderson’s pals — including Michael Strahan, Cedric the Entertainer, and Don Lemon – all took to the post’s comment section to send their good wishes on his recovery… and to seriously urge him to use a stuntman moving forward.
“Yeah man…YOU deliver the quips and let a look-a-like fight the chair,” former football star Desmond Howard wrote. “Now you know how it feels to get hit in the back crossing the middle!”
“You are not made of rubber,” Anderson’s Black-ish costar Tracee Ellis Ross added. “Im so glad you are ok.”
In a later post, he elaborated on how he got a whooping from a chair:

Don’t worry, he klapped back at the stool:

Besides the aches and pains, he seems to have really enjoyed being in the Mother City:

Not a fan of him being that close to a seal, but anyway. It’s always nice to see people enjoying our stunning country:

Besides hosting a Euro-trip travel show with his mother for E! Called Trippin’ with Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris, he also hosted the 2024 Emmy Awards with an opening that paid tribute to older shows such as The Facts of Life and Miami Vice.
