The best beaches in the world have been revealed and one South African spot has made it onto the list.
A team of travel experts at Lonely Planet have named the 100 best beaches in the world and packaged the information into a lovely book for your coffee table.
Bays and Beaches in Australia, Thailand, America, Greece, Italy and Cape Town have all been included in the travel publisher’s latest book, Best Beaches – 100 Of the World’s Most Incredible Beaches.
Time Out reports that it’s no wonder Lonely Planet’s new book contains such a huge mixture of beaches from all over the world.
One thing’s for sure – whether you’re partial to hikes along a rugged coast or sunbathing on powder-white sands next to some lovely lapping waves, pretty much all of us can appreciate a beach in one form or another.
The list of beaches is split per continent. For Africa, Cape Town’s Camps Bay beach made the cut as “a renowned party destination set against the city’s mountainous backdrop”.
Camps Bay is made even more sparkly with the gem that is Café Caprice, a place that has become a landmark establishment on the famous seaside Stretch in Cape Town.

At Café Caprice, tourists from around the globe rub shoulders with the regular local clientele, all enjoying the gorgeous beach backdrop whilst sipping an eye-catching cocktail and listening to a sexy, chilled tune spun by the resident DJs as the sun goes down.

The other best beaches on our continent include Mnemba Island in Zanzibar, Le Morne Beach in Black River, Mauritius, Nosy Iranja in Madagascar, and Anse Source d’Argent in La Digue, Seychelles.
In Asia, there’s the dazzlingly postcard-worthy Maremegmeg Beach in the Philippines, while in Europe there’s plenty of recognition for the Mediterranean coast, with Rhossili Bay in Wales also included.
Qalansiyah Beach in Yemen is one entry for the Middle East, which is populated by small, warm natural pools, while Red Frog Beach in Panama and Blue Lagoon Beach in Fiji are another two paradise-like destinations to make the list, representing the Americas and Oceania respectively.
