Admittedly, this is not the kind of thing you want to see on a Monday morning, so consider yourself warned.
A tech entrepreneur died in a “freak accident” during a company event, and the disastrous incident was caught on camera.
News.au reported that Sanjay Shah, CEO of US-based company Vistex, was seated in an iron cage which snapped apart, sending the tech boss plunging to his death. The freak accident took place at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India, during the company’s silver jubilee on Thursday evening.
Sanjay was not alone when he fell to his death. Joined by his coworker Raju Datla, Sanjay stepped into an iron enclosure on the stage designed to descend from an elevated position.
“Shah and Raju being lowered from the cage onto the dais was a planned event to kickstart the celebrations,” a company official told The Times of India.
However, a section of the iron chain that was supporting the enclosure gave way, causing both individuals to fall more than 4.5 metres to the solid concrete floor below. The descending enclosure, guided by a mobile apparatus, featured iron wires and grilles.
“Suddenly, one of the two wires attached to the cage snapped. Both plunged more than 15 feet and landed on the concrete dais. This caused multiple injuries,” cops said.
The footage can be shocking:

Both men were rushed to the hospital, but the CEO succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Datla, who has been working at Vistex since 2000, remains in a serious condition.
Vistex, based in Illinois, had organised lodging for its employees at Ramoji Film City and scheduled a two-day celebration for its 25th anniversary. Specialising in revenue management solutions and services, the company operates across 20 global offices and boasts a workforce of over 2,000 employees.
Hailing from Mumbai, Sanjay Shah served as a key figure in steering Vistex to prominence within the tech industry as a successful entrepreneur.
