It seems there is no honour among comrades after Minister of Police Bheki Cele has threatened to expose all the “dirty secrets and shenanigans” of former president Jacob Zuma if he “dares to humiliate the ANC publicly”.
The not-so-veiled threat was made during Cele’s address to the eThekwini ANC structures on Thursday in Durban. The address is part of the ANC roadshow in the runup to the unveiling of its election manifesto at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 24 February.
Shooting his mouth off again, Cele said he knows “all about Zuma’s dirty secrets in exile” since they were very close during that period.
“Fortunately, I am the only one who knows those secrets because he was my commander during that time and I was his close comrade.”
“If he dares to spill the beans about the secrets of any ANC leader, he must bring it on because I am going to expose his shenanigans that took place in exile,” said Cele.
Cele went on to describe Zuma as an “ungrateful sell-out”.
“Harry Gwala (a former leader of the ANC and South African Communist Party in KwaZulu-Natal) warned us against Zuma and now I see why,” said Cele.
The ‘threat’ follows a remark by Zuma that he would expose ANC leaders publicly for “what they are” if they attacked him.
Cele kept on ranting about how, when Zuma was ousted by then-president Thabo Mbeki in 2006, he wanted to fight for him, but struggle stalwart Dumisani Makhaye warned him to stay away from Zuma.
“Makhaye told me that I must never get involved in Zuma’s battles because he is a criminal. Even before that, Harry Gwala hated Zuma and described him as a sell-out,” Cele said.
“He is ungrateful. He enjoys the presidential annual salary of R3-million but he is still fighting against those who are leading.”
As a final klap, Cele called Zuma a “bad ancestor”.

You have to wonder if Cele has the grey matter to realise that if you threaten to expose someone’s dirty secrets in public, you are publicly confirming that someone has dirty secrets that need to be exposed. Or as Cele himself said, the “secrets of any ANC leader”.
Now we really want to know what these secrets are, Minister.
