One person was badly injured and several others were treated for ‘less serious injuries’ after this weekend’s hectic winds tore through the Oranjezicht City Farm Market at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday.
At around 08:45 the morning, the Cape Town wind caused tents and a wooden structure to collapse, which injured several people attending the market.
Fortunately, emergency personnel, including the fire department, medics, the market’s landlord, and traders were quick to respond and the injured were treated at the scene.
Despite the Cape wind being exceptionally strong this weekend, the market is investigating the incident. We hope the injured have a speedy recovery.
The Oranjezicht City Farm Market (OZCFarm) is one of Cape Town’s top destinations for fresh produce, amazing food and colourful people. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been there before.
