Called the ‘Nostradamus of the Balkans’, Baba Vanga has become a cult figure among believers ever since the soothsayer’s predictions have been proving to be eerily true after her death.

Baba Vanga, or rather Vangelia Pandeva Gushterova, was said to have been born with ‘prophetic skills’ and since childhood, appeared to be able to see into the future.

These ‘powers’ she attributed to a tornado that had blinded her as a child.

So accurate were her predictions that during World War II, Bulgarian Tsar Boris III and Soviet commander Leonid Brezhnev reportedly sought her advice in person. Today there is even a statue of her at her home-turned-museum in Petrich, Bulgaria, so to some people, she’s the real deal.

Baba Vanga sadly passed away in 1996, but the mystic left us with predictions for every year up until 5079, and apparently, many of her predictions have come true long after her death.

Of course, many of her predictions cannot be proven because they are based on second-hand information, but Baba Vanga is alleged to have predicted Princess Diana’s death, the sinking of the Russian submarine Kursk, and the 9/11 terror attacks (“American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds”). She even purportedly predicted her own death on August 11, 1996, at the age of 85.

Several of her projections for 2023 however did not come true, like the “solar storm with catastrophic implications for the Earth in 2023”, or the “nuclear bioweapons attack”. But there’s still a month to go, so let’s see.

As for 2024, Baba Vanga had a few shocking predictions for those who believe in such things.

Vanga is predicting that a fellow countryman will attempt to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin next year, and a rise in terrorist attacks in Europe. A ‘major country’ will also apparently “conduct biological weapons testing or strikes” in 2024.

The mystic had thoughts on rising debt levels and escalating geopolitical tensions as well, noting that these will have an “influence on the global economy next year”. Bit of an easy prediction that, perhaps also her prediction of “horrific weather occurrences and catastrophic disasters” in the coming year.

According to the late clairvoyant, “cyber attacks would also increase,” and “power grids and water treatment plants will be targeted by advanced hackers, creating a national security risk”.

There is some good news. According to Baba Vanga, “new cures for diseases like cancer will be developed”. That last one would be sweet, but we shouldn’t expect 2024 to be any worse than 2023. How could it? Never mind, forget we asked.

If humanity does manage to drag itself through another year without blowing up the planet, Baba Vanga had some predictions beyond 2024. We are set to resolve the world hunger crisis between 2025 and 2028, communism will return by 2076, and humanity will achieve time travel in 2304.

We could do with the time travel now, but the future can keep communism.
