Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx is the latest celebrity to have been sued for an alleged sexual assault that possibly happened in 2015. Foxx joins Axl Rose in the latest ‘chickens coming home to roost’ lawsuit for their alleged behaviour during the pre-Me Too era.
According to court documents, Foxx has been accused of ‘various indecent acts’ with the woman, including ‘placing both hands on the woman’s waist before proceeding to move them under her top.’
The alleged assault took place at Catch NYC & Roof bar late one night in 2015 when the woman requested a photo with the actor. According to her Foxx appeared drunk and replied “Anything for you baby”.
She further alleges that Foxx told her she “looked like Gabrielle Union” adding that she had a “supermodel body and smelled really good”. The actor’s friends reportedly rushed to stop him when they saw him touching the woman.
The lawsuit details include charges of sexual assault, abuse, assault, and battery. The claim also demands damages for pain and suffering, emotional distress, anxiety, and embarrassment. It further states that the assault left the victim sore and forced her to seek medical attention.
Catch NYC is also named as a defendant in the case, which claims that they allowed the assault and failed to ‘oversee their staff sufficiently’.
The complaint is one of many brought under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which established a one-year deadline for filing sexual abuse claims that the statute of limitations would otherwise prohibit. The deadline for submitting such claims is Thursday.
