Rocking the Daisies has been muddied by yet another tent scandal.
A South African woman named Umtha Sibam took to TikTok to complain about arriving at the festival only to find that she was not going to be sleeping in luxury after forking out a cool R16,000 to do so.
The festival-goer can be heard dishing out expletives through trane as she explains that she paid R16,000 for the Hallmark Penthouse glamping experience at Rocking the Daisies, which is supposed to include a bed, an electric blanket, lights, a shower and toilet, as well as breakfast the next morning.
She possibly did not sleep at all that night, as she says she pitched up only to be told that she did not have a tent and that the place was too full. She emphasises that she paid the double-digit amount in July already, and was never told up until the moment of arrival that the space was overbooked.
She claimed they downgraded her to a Deluxe Tent, which does not come with nearly half the luxury amenities she paid for. In her words, Daisies does “not give a f*cking f*ck”.

Luckily for Umtha, the video went viral, racking up over 580,000 views – enough that the RTD “manager” saw and quickly took action to alleviate the pending crisis
In an update to her new fans, Umtha explained that without all their help, she wouldn’t have been provided for and compensated for. She says the manager offered her a refund, all-you-want shopping access at the RTD merch store, and a deck view for the main headliner act, Stormzy.

Wam bam, thank you, ma’am.
Daisies were skating on fine ice for a moment there, especially considering how last year they were also in hot water for advertising more than they could deliver.
Last year, they were offering the “Black Coffee Penthouse” – named after our resident award-winning DJ – an expensive glamping site with en-suite facilities rather than shared bathrooms.
But it became a problem as there was a miscommunication about the use of the Black Coffee name, which had to be wiped from the R13,795 larger tent option and turned into the “Hallmark Penthouses” instead, which is in honour of the Johannesburg hotel with the same name.
That’s the tent that Umtha ended up crying over this year. Eish, hey.
