There are those few flight attendants with wild stories about life in the air.
Take Vesna Vulovic, the flight attendant who survived a 9,000-metre fall without a parachute or Cierra Mistt’s wild tale about pilots getting up to no good in their hotel rooms for example.
However, these crazy times seem few and far between while the daily reality is just a hard slog.
Retired flight attendant and TikTokker, Ashlee Jane, shared a video explaining some of the more gruelling aspects of the job. Per DMARGE, she gets into how the inner workings of airlines can make it difficult to plan a fulfilling life beyond the bounds of the job and, even more surprisingly, how the apparently glamorous perks of non-stop travel can actually wear thin fast.
Jane describes how despite the increased flexibility and higher rate of pay versus other careers, the job takes a heavy toll, often leading to full-blown burnout.

The drawbacks of being a flight attendant are basically:
a) The brutality of inconsistent schedules that make personal planning and maintaining stable relationships incredibly difficult.
b) The chance for personal travel becomes limited despite the supposed allure of discounts and standby seats.
c) Plus, the travelling options are often not as exotic or exciting as one might think.
d) the pay starts low and takes many years to get significantly higher.
e) Factor in complicated colleague dynamics, strict seniority rules and monotonous tasks and the pay just doesn’t seem worth it.
f) Finally, passengers can often be a pain. We’ve heard enough stories about drunk, bratty and entitled passengers doing horrendous things on board.
So yeah, flying really isn’t what it’s cut out to be.
