Here’s your feel-good (read: jealous) Friday story.
A Cape Town man has just scooped over R21 million in the national lottery, and he has admirable plans for his newly acquired riches.
The National Lottery’s operator, Ithuba, announced that the most recent winner of the Lotto Plus draw, which took place on 28 October, received a sum of R21,356,279.20. Nice one.
The winner disclosed, per EWN, that despite his prior modest wins, his faith and persistence ultimately paid off:

The Capetonian, whose name remains confidential, revealed that he wants to use some moola to significantly improve both his own and other people’s lives. Besides wanting to start his own business in the field of emergency healthcare services, he also intends to invest in property and donate to charity, says lottery operator Ithuba.
Ithuba CEO congratulated the winner, saying “his is an inspiring tale of hope and resiliency” and a reminder that “wishes can come true”.
Commenting on his pledge to give back by making generous donations to various charities, Ithuba said via TimesLIVE: “This act of kindness reflects the spirit of ubuntu and the positive impact the national lottery continues to have on winners and communities alike.”
The winner will receive free financial and trauma counselling, to ensure his money remains safe and solid.
“We are proud to have played a role in this life-changing moment and are excited to see the winner’s plans unfold, positively impacting his life and those around him,” Ithaba said.
