Renewing your car licence has just been made a whole lot easier thanks to the Shoprite Group.
It is now possible to renew your car licence disc at Shoprite and Checkers. General Manager of Financial Services at the Shoprite Group, Jean Olivier, has made the offer available at any of the 1,350 Shoprite, Checkers and Usave store Money Market counters around the country.
The catch is that this offer is only available between November 1 and January 31, so if your disk is good for that window, then you’ll likely still need to go through the old channels when it does eventually expire.
At this time, customers will be able to renew their vehicle licence online and pay online or in person for a discounted fee of R185.
Oliver says that “with soaring living costs, times are tough for consumers” so the Shoprite Group is hoping to “provide some relief by reducing the cost of car licence renewals and providing a hassle-free process that can be completed in just a few easy steps”, per IOL.
Vehicle licences can also be paid for at the Money Market counters in OK Furniture, House & Home and selected OK Foods franchise outlets.
With all the correct documents – a current car licence disc, a barcoded ID book or Smartcard ID, and proof of residence – the process is effortless and can take less than three minutes to complete:
Again, all you need to do is 1) capture your information online; 2) pay online via Computicket or in-store; and 3) a courier delivery will occur within 5-10 business days.
Wam bam, thank you, ma’am.
Olivier said the licence fee and possible penalties are variable, and a quote will be provided once the renewal process has commenced.
