Where are you watching the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday night?
That is the question being asked of all Saffas as we gear up to watch the most anticipated colossal clash between the Springboks and their arch-rivals, the All Blacks.
Most of us are happy to get the braais going at home with a bezza or two, while others are keen to gather the troops and head out to one of the many fan parks or other venues that will show the big final.
Then, there are those okes fortunate enough to be watching the epic game in Paris at the Stade de France – the financial commitment of which is rather hectic.
According to the official Rugby World Cup ticket sales website, there were 10 tickets available for resale on Wednesday night, each of which cost a hefty €950 (R19,200).
But The South African revealed a graphic that was making waves on social media and WhatsApp groups showing even more stunning prices:
Someone is forking out an eye-watering R169,880 for one game, just saying. Only ultra fans will say that’s worth it.
These staggering figures do not even account for the additional expenses one might incur while attending this remarkable event.
Indeed, according to IOL‘s cost analysis for travelling to France to watch the Rugby World Cup live – if one had a valid visa and passport – is no small feat:
That’s approximately R45,148 for air tickets, match day tickets, and accommodation alone, with food and everyday expenses added, bringing the total to a cool R53,148 for just one person.
For a Rugby World Cup final that promises to be so historic that it will be remembered for generations to come, this cost might be totally worth it.
So, where are you watching the Rugby World Cup final on Saturday night?
