Johhny Depp might have come away fairly unscathed from his very public lawsuit with Amber Heard, but the recent court documents seem to show he wasn’t the only one making the lady’s life miserable.
Newly released court documents reveal Heard’s complained to a therapist that her Aquaman costar arrived “drunk” and “late on set,” which DC Studios obviously denies. She further claims that Mamoa dressed up as Jack Sparrow to torment her, wearing his rings etc.
DC claims that “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set”, but despite the fact that Amber is out of fashion at the moment among the Hollywood elite, we can totally believe that Momoa would be capable of such a ‘prank’ as his sense of humour is well documented.
During the legal spectacle with Depp, Heard testified that her role as Mera in the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom had become “very pared down” because of the public attention on her personal life. The franchise’s director James Wan however claims that “her character was never intended to be a major part of the sequel”.
“I fought really hard to stay in the movie,” Heard testified. “They didn’t want to include me in the film.”
“I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes,” she added. “They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch out.”
DC Films even noted a distinct ‘lack of chemistry’ between Momoa and Heard in the first movie, but Heard has rubbished this, saying her career has taken hits because of the Depp fiasco. Fair enough. The media has gone to great lengths to portray her as a ‘crazy ex’, whilst Johhny has come away smelling like Dior Sauvage.
Amber claimed in a Variety article that Momoa “said he wanted me fired” from the sequel, as well as being bullied by the film’s director, James Wan. The same publication also claims that serial baby-maker and tech bro Elon Musk has climbed into the fray over her role in Aquaman 2.
According to the article, Musk sent a “scorched-earth letter to Warner Bros. threatening to burn the house down” if she was cut from the sequel. Musk’s people have not yet commented on the supposed letter, but taking his penchant for not staying in his lane, it’s not inconceivable for him to throw his white saviour weight around.
Anyway, Heard is set to star in the film, In the Fire, which opens in theatres on October 13. The film’s director Conor Allyn said that the actress is now “living her best life” in Spain with her daughter and just “finding happiness in that way.”
Heard’s been through a rough few years, so the lady probably deserves a little happiness after being made the poster girl for crazy ex-girlfriends. If it means less screentime in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, so be it. The first Aquaman was a kak movie anyway, so perhaps she’s dodging a bullet by playing a ‘minor role’ in this one.
The trailer looks pretty good though.
