A video has gone viral showing a Joburg man relieving himself while seated in a moving car.

The video has been splayed all over TikTok, with the unidentified man seen dangling his legs out of the moving car in order to pee in broad daylight.

The Speaker of the City of Joburg Colleen Makhubele is not at all impressed by this little incident of indecent exposure, basically denouncing the City of Gold and condemning the disgusting actions of the man.

The Citizen reported that Makhubele said the city cannot call itself a world-class African city if citizens do not abide by the law:

“Our Society has lost all forms of social control and social order and makes it very uncomfortable for residents, tourists and investors to take our nation and cities seriously. The video that has gone viral just goes to show the criticality of the civic education programme that we have embarked on in an attempt to create a consciousness of social respect and decent co-existence in our shared spaces.

‘’Examples like these truly announce the decay of our self-expression as humans in this country. We need to develop good citizenship values to run a world-class African City, said Makhubele.

The Speaker has called for a renewal of civic education from early childhood development:

“As a nation, we are facing an education to regain social order and public decency. It’s upon all of us in all spheres of government to start deliberately building world-class African citizens, and refrain from making jokes out of serious disrespect of public and social ethics,” Makubele said.

Respect goes a long way, but it also goes both ways.

Makhubele might be right, but perhaps the people have given up on social order because the buffoons at the top couldn’t care less.

The City of Joburg is falling apart anyway, with fires and explosions going off left, right and centre. There was that insane gas line explosion that sent taxis flying and caused injuries to 41 people in the CBD in July, and then there was the devastating Marshalltown multi-storey apartment block fire, which killed 74 people, including 12 children.

The City of Gold has lost its shine.
