A group of cyclists out for an early morning ride through Balmoral Estate in Scotland were in for a surprise when they bumped into a lone figure strolling through the mist.
To their amazement, the person turned out to be none other than His Royal Highness, King Charles III.
In the video uploaded to Instagram, the British monarch can be seen chatting about his memories of the estate, and grumbling about the “horrendous” number of midges flying around. Bugs don’t care if you are king it seems.
One of the riders joked that a member of their group is a minor celebrity in the mountain biking world, to which his mate responded “Nothing compared to you, Sir.’
The wholesome interaction seems so casual and normal that you can forget for a moment that the old man is the ruler of the British Empire (or what’s left of it). Then again, if you take away the pomp and splendour, King Charles is just an old guy getting some exercise. He seems nice enough though.
