One of the internet’s favourite “babygirls”– better known as Carmy from the sterling series The Bear – is starring in a new movie that puts love to the actual test.
Jeremy Allen White stars alongside Jessie Buckley (I’m Thinking Of Ending Things) who are the two quirky lead characters in an unconventional romance. Fingernails, in essence, tells the near-future soft sci-fi story of the development of an unusual way to test love.
Directed by Christos Nikou, Fingernails also stars Riz Ahmed (The Night Of) and Luke Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums) – basically, all the weirdos that make indie movies so much fun.
Mashable outlines what the film is about;
[It] follows Anna (Buckley), a woman who has taken a test that scientifically evaluates whether a couple is in love. Fortunately, the results state that she and her boyfriend Ryan (Allen White) are meant to be. Unfortunately, Anna remains unsure about the test’s accuracy, as it doesn’t quite line up with her feelings. Her situation only grows more complicated when she takes a job at a love testing institute and meets her attractive new colleague Amir (Ahmed).
The Fingernails trailer reveals only snippets of the zany story that is to follow:
The title makes sense when you see an image of an exercise reminiscent of a manicure in the trailer, where one procedure in question is a process in which one’s fingernails are ripped out and examined in order to confirm compatibility with one’s partner.
Seems like fun.
Fingernails will premiere on October 27, before arriving in select theatres and on Apple TV+ on November 3.
