Adding to this week’s addition of sies man (here’s lookin’ at you, Russell Brand), musician Marilyn Manson has been sentenced to pay a fine and serve community service for disrespectful conduct to a reporter.
Bizarrely enough, the latest news about Brian Warner AKA Marilyn Manson doesn’t involve his history of disturbing sexual assault allegations but an immature incident where he spat at and blew his nose on a reporter. Maybe dismissible if you’re an infant, but certainly not if you’re a grown-ass man.
The controversial musician has subsequently been sentenced in New Hampshire this week for an incident during his 2019 concert, in which he spat on a camerawoman. The judge presiding over the case characterised Manson’s actions as “egregious.”
Manson has been ordered to serve 20 hours of community service and pay fines amounting to approximately the equivalent of R26,000 for the misdemeanour committed during his performance at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford in August 2019.
The charges against Manson initially prompted him to plead not guilty, but he later changed his plea. It’s hard to dispute your guilt when you actually did the gross thing, I guess.
A police report outlines how Manson was captured on camera spitting on Susan Fountain, a photographer, and blowing his nose on her as she filmed his performance. Manson put his face close to Fountain’s camera before spitting a “big lougee” at her and later knelt over her, placing his hand over one nostril and releasing a “significant amount of mucus”.
In her statement to the court, Fountain expressed her deep humiliation, describing Manson’s actions as “the most disgusting thing a human being has ever done to her”. Fair enough, it sounds positively awful.
As part of his sentence, Manson is also required to inform the police of any concerts he planned to perform in New Hampshire for the next two years. Additionally, he must provide proof of completing his community service by February 2024.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Manson stated that he intends to perform his community service with “people in recovery”.
Hopefully that includes actually doing some good, not just hanging out talking shit with ex-heroin users, which we wouldn’t put past this weirdo.
