It turns out our favourite Springbok blondie Faf de Klerk is not just good at snatching rugby balls away from the Sottish rugby team, but is also a wiz on the traditional Scottish bagpipes.
At least that’s what many netizens think after video footage surfaced on social media of a man who looks suspiciously like the Springbok scrum-half showing off his ability on the notoriously difficult-to-play instrument.
At first glance, even I thought that the talented lad was indeed our Faffie.
After some internet sleuthing and rigorous comment reading, it appears the guy is just one of the most believable doppelgängers of our Bokke scrum-half.
One of the clues that gave the mystery away was a woman that can be heard in the background of the clip explaining that this was their “Scottish Faf” and he had swapped shirts with a South African fan at a World Cup Rugby match viewing.

The problem with social media is that those who may not have the time, skills or energy to look into ‘deep fakes’ or even just difficult-to-discern footage are CONVINCED that the young Scottish lad is indeed Faf.
Thanks to those of us who are up to the task of debunking, loads of comments have been posted to correct the misunderstanding. “That is definitely not our Faf,” one Facebook user said amidst a slurry of laughing-face emojis, while another made the joke that this is what happens when you “order Faf off Wish.com”.
Despite all the confusion, it’s a touching moment to see Scots enjoying the Rugby World Cup gees (even though our Bokke gave them a thorough hiding in the last game).
BRB, starting a petition for Scottish Faf and Saffa Faf to meet up for ‘beers and bagpipes’. I need to see them in the same room to test a theory.
