We could say Cher is back, but the truth is the iconic half of Sonny & Cher has never really gone away, and now the American singer, actress and television personality is doing a ‘Michael Bublé’ by releasing a Christmas album.
The ‘Believe’ singer, 77, is gearing up to release Cher Christmas, and she started teasing the project to her 2.6 million Instagram followers on Thursday.
Cher released the image, showing her on a pile of snow and surrounded by red and silver ornaments, to Instagram, with the words, “Are you spending Christmas with me?” At an age when most grannies are looking forward to pinching cheeks, this lady just oozes cool.
Doubling down on the Christmas promise, Cher released a second poster for the upcoming album, ditching the ‘dressed down’ look for one of her Ray-of-Light-vibe costumes. She also swapped her signature black hair for icy blonde tresses and replaced the silver “Cher” lettering with a metallic red.
“Christmas already? But I’ve got nothing to wear…” she captioned the post.

Although the release date for Cher Christmas has not yet been announced, the album is available for preorder now — and Cher is “really, really excited” about it.
“It’s a Cher Christmas album. It’s not your mother’s Christmas album,” the singer said on Good Morning Britain earlier this month. There was never any doubt as to what a Cher Xmas would be, was there?
“I’m really, really excited because there’s millions of people on it, and I’ve never had duets. I’ve never had people on any of my records,” Cher told the hosts, adding that the collaborations were a “last-minute thing.” Though the Moonstruck actress did not reveal any of the artists’ names, she hinted they are “special”.
“I’m in awe of all of them,” Cher added.
Cher rose to fame in 1965 as one half of the folk-rock husband-wife duo Sonny & Cher, before launching a successful, six-decade-long solo career. While often referred to by the media as the “Goddess of Pop”, she has been described as embodying female autonomy in a male-dominated industry. Let’s also not forget that she has been starring in acting roles since 1970 as well, with her show The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, watched by over 30 million viewers weekly during its three-year run.
Even after all these decades, she still rocks.
