South African rap sensation Nasty C had an unexpected encounter with a fan during his performance in Zambia over the weekend that ended up in fisticuffs and a forcible security removal.

During his performance in Zambia as part of the African Throne World Tour with fellow local rapper Cassper Nyovest, a fan suddenly leaped onto the stage and attempted to join Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo AKA Nasty C with some impromptu dance moves while he was in the midst of his set.

In a video that has circulated widely online since the show, the 26-year-old rapper can be seen responding by punching and kicking the fan before security personnel swiftly intervene.

The battered fan was brought to the ground by the security guys, and Nasty C attempted one final kick to the fallen attendee before the music was abruptly cut.

While the fan was escorted off the stage, he was able to return to the crowd. Trending on X since being posted, the clip of the incident has triggered a range of responses from fans and the public.

Some individuals believe that Nasty C’s reaction was justified given the potential threat to his safety, despite the fan showing little risk of attack. One supporter argued, “AKA got gunned down just like that, and people think artists should go around hugging strangers when they feel threatened”.

Apparently Nasty C was close to Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA, and it’s very likely that the star was emotionally impacted by AKA’s shocking assassination just earlier this year.

On the other hand, some fans have criticised Nasty C’s response, suggesting that he should have allowed security to handle the situation. In the few seconds that it took the muscle to get to the stage, Nasty C had already administered a sizeable beating.

One X user criticised the aggression shown by the rapper, saying, “Nasty C wants to act like a thug. He should have let security deal with him. As soon as they hit the millions, they want to forget the same people that made them rich”.

I guess you don’t choose the moniker ‘Nasty’ for nothing.

In the midst of recent performances, Nasty C has also been generating excitement with the forthcoming release of his fifth studio album, Love It Here. The rapper announced the release last Friday, and dropped a new single ‘Prosper In Peace,’ featuring US hip hop artist Benny The Butcher.

The album promises to feature a diverse array of artists, including afro-pop star Ami Faku, frequent collaborator Tellaman, R&B vocalist Manana, and rappers 25K and Maglera Doe Boy. While the hype for the album is noted, many fans have been left with a sour taste in their mouths after the most recent Zambia show shenanigans.

The African Throne World Tour has already taken Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest to Kenya, Tanzania, eSwatini, Mozambique, and Zambia, and the talented musicians will be continuing the run with upcoming shows in Botswana, Rwanda and Nigeria.

So is Nasty C a ‘paranoid performer’ or ‘thoughtless thug’? While we don’t know the answer for sure, let’s hope he keeps the ‘nasty-ness’ to a minimum for the rest of the tour.
