Passengers on a recent Delta flight from Atlanta to Barcelona found themselves in a nightmarish situation when the plane was forced to turn around due to a passenger’s severe bout of diarrhoea.
It’s one thing being ill and kakking your broek in the safety of your own home, but this poor guy’s tummy malfunction stopped a whole commercial flight. Plus, no one is videoing the catastrophe when it happens in your home, but when you’re out in public, best believe someone is going to film it.
A disturbing clip displayed the aftermath of the incident, showing excrement and soiled paper towels scattered in the aisle of the plane that marked the unfortunate mid-air sh*ts that occurred on Friday.
The flight had just taken off from Atlanta and was en route to Barcelona when the unwell passenger’s condition rapidly deteriorated, prompting the pilot to make the swift decision to return to the airport, declaring the situation a “biohazard”. Good call, that’s a pinkeye epidemic waiting to happen.
Delta Airlines confirmed that the explosive event unfolded merely one hour into the flight, with 336 passengers experiening extensive delays as a result, although many of them lauded the quick response of the airline’s cleanup crews.
Once safely landed back in Atlanta, the crew embarked on a five-hour cleaning operation, where the jet was thoroughly scrubbed, and the skidmarked carpets were completely replaced. Props to the janitorial peeps – this has got to be the worst it gets when it comes to cleaning up after passengers.
Despite the unfortunate setback, the plane eventually landed in Barcelona, albeit eight hours behind schedule.
Viral footage has showcased a brave passenger walking nearly the entire length of the aircraft in order to provide a full picture of the extent of the mess.
If you’re easily queasily when it comes to poop stuff, I recommend keeping a nausea tablet on hand for this one.

Despite the grim situation, Delta’s staff earned praise for their prompt response and remarkably, some passengers noted that the second flight had “no smell” despite the unsavoury incident.
While the situation might have sparked a handful of jokes and parodies online, it was undoubtedly a trying experience for everyone onboard.
One passenger summed up the ordeal, stating, “It was pretty bad. It dribbled down the aisle, smelled horrible.”
Ugh, ‘pretty bad’ seems like an understatement.
Big ups to the behind-the-scenes guys who have to deal with sh*t like this (pun intended) on a regular basis, although hopefully not to this extent.
As for the man who skidmarked his way to unwanted internet fame: hope your tum’s feeling better, buddy.
