Footage shared to social media reportedly shows a drug lord named ‘Taliban’ being tied to an anchor before being thrown overboard Jack Sparrow-like from a cartel’s boat.
The incident is apparently in retaliation for trying to steal the drug dealers’ 204kg of cocaine and cash. Hectic.
Reinaldo ‘Taliban’ Fuentes is seen bound and gagged with blood stains on the back of his head before his killers struggle to heave him – and the anchor – over the side of a boat into the Caribbean Sea near Martinique.
None of his kidnappers are identified but one is heard in the background of the video saying “Make sure none of our faces can be seen” and another later says, “he has no way to save himself”. The footage, shared on X, shows Fuentes staring at the person recording the video. He is then unceremoniously dumped overboard and left to drown.
In an elaborate but poorly thought out heist, Fuentes, who is a middleman for the Venezuelan Clan del Cartel, earlier dumped a shipment of cocaine worth $10 million (R186 million) at sea, before faking a Coast Guard pursuit to explain why he didn’t have the cash or coke anymore.
The drug-smuggling thief then went back to collect his floating bounty before hiding it on a Caribbean Island. Fuentes was planning to repackage the booty before reselling it, but a meeting was called by his bosses before he could make his escape.
Unbeknownst to the pirate, some of his henchmen had snitched on him, and as soon as he rocked up to the cartel meeting, he was grabbed and taken to a watery grave.
Although not bloody or violent, it’s a pretty grim video, so don’t watch if you’re prone to nightmares about being drowned or considering ripping off your local cartel.

Fuentes allegedly controlled drug dealing in the Bonao neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, where he picked up the ‘Taliban’ nickname due to illicit dealings with Middle Eastern drug traffickers.
It’s unclear if authorities have made any arrests in the case although the Dominican Republic military said that the incident did not take place in its waters.
What a world we live in when drug cartels are now sharing their revenge on X.
