In a move that rivals Nando’s famously hilarious and uniquely South African adverts, local insurance company King Price has just dropped one of the funniest ads of the year.
In honour of both the 2023 Rugby World Cup as well as our ongoing frustrations with load shedding in SA, the ad’s aim is to ‘generate gees’ and they hit the nail on the head.
The seemingly high-budget video gets the hype of a South African rugby match dead-on and is chock-a-block full of comedic acting, including some laugh-out-loud-worthy facial expressions from the actors.
King Price encourages us with the clip to embrace the ‘unpredictable’ – which could mean putting some elbow grease to work to get a generator going as our ‘new national anthem’.
What makes it all the more hilarious is that it doesn’t seem unlikely at this point.
Twitter/X is now a-buzz with local netizens in fits of giggles, with many poking fun by explaining that “everybody is really struggling with the lyrics of the new South African national anthem”.
You will find me practicing the ‘words’ to the latest addition to this prideful ‘song’ of SA in the alleyway next to the generator behind my local supermarket. Vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
May this tune carry us through the next set of power cuts.
