In our quest to find interesting news stories from the deepest recesses of the internet, we happened to come upon one of the strangest Instagram pages we’ve seen in a while – a page dedicated to connecting you with inmates currently serving time in Idaho State Correctional Centre, also known as prison.
The page mostly posts inmates’ videos as they introduce themselves in a strange ‘dating video’ vibe.
Now there isn’t anything really ‘unusual’ about this as many prisons run programs that put inmates in touch with penpals to help them stay connected to the outside world, but it’s still a little strange to watch.
The inmates putting themselves ‘out there’ are from all backgrounds and genders, and if you are looking for a convicted pen pal, there are plenty of videos to scroll through. While some are obviously interested in ‘ladies with pretty smiles hitting them up’ (a.k.a. send nudes), there are some videos that genuinely appeal for a ‘connection’.
Before you begin scrolling through the videos, keep in mind that these videos originate from Idaho’s Maximum Security Prison, so these pen pals are probably not being held over outstanding parking tickets. Luckily their ‘bio’ does list their ‘crimes’.
That being said, some of these inmates seem like interesting people.

As you grab a pen and some paper, please think this through carefully. This is how Netflix documentaries usually start.
