There is no shortage of public marriage proposals on social media, some sweet and others ending in a dumpster fire of broken hearts. But this one really does leave you feeling fuzzy inside.

US TV news anchor Cornelia Nicholson was just following along with the teleprompter when it became clear that the ‘story’ was in fact her proposal, with her suitor and fellow newsman, Riley Nagel, showing up for a “special report” mid-recording.

Nicholson looked shocked as Nagel, who is also a reporter at the station, walked out holding a bouquet of flowers and a ring box.

Nagel said he thought “it would be fitting to ask you this question here since we met in news”, before getting down on one knee and asking: “Cornelia Nicholson will you marry me?”

Nagel told viewers how the pair met while working in news almost four years ago, describing how he was “very drawn” to his now-fiancée.

Fighting back tears, Nicholson obviously replied: “I’m going to cry, yes!”

Man, this is so sweet that even a misanthrope like me felt a tear scorching its way down my cheek.
