The new Miss SA appears to be off to a great start, and despite the seemingly lacklustre decade that beauty pageants have gone through recently, Natasha Joubert and her predecessor, Ndavi Nokeri, have breathed new life into the title of SA’s No 1 lady.

After coming in as second runner-up in the 2020 competition, Joubert owned the 2023 Miss South Africa show, and now she is here with a bang.

But despite Mzansi being confused about her race, she seems to enjoy everyone’s approval (which says a lot in SA). So who exactly is our new queen?

The model and entrepreneur is the youngest of three children, including a brother called Reinier Joubert-Kriek and a sister Danielle Joubert. Her mother, Ninette Joubert is a lawyer, but sadly, her father passed away shortly after her 16th birthday in 2013.

Joubert attended Hoërskool Eldoraigne in Centurion. Subsequently, she registered at Boston City Campus and Business College, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing management in the year 2020. Joubert then went on to become a public relations officer at a law firm and simultaneously served as the founder and proprietor of the fashion design enterprise, Natalia Jefferys.

Joubert began her journey in pageantry by taking part in Miss Globe South Africa 2016. Triumphantly clinching the title, she subsequently advanced to secure a position within the Top 5 at the Miss Globe 2016 competition. This was followed by a shot at the 2022 Miss SA title, but only made it as far as the top three.

She was then chosen by the Miss South Africa Organisation to hold the title of Miss Universe South Africa 2020. Consequently, she represented her country at the Miss Universe 2020 competition; however, she did not attain a position among the top 21 contestants.

Joubert is currently dating a gentleman by the name of Enrico Vermaak, and the pair have been together for nearly eight years.

With an Instagram following of over 260k, Joubert is no stranger to the limelight, and considering the road she took to become our Miss South Africa, we’d have to say she properly represents South African tenacity and persistence.

And for those of you who add value to these things, she’s also a Leo when it comes to the Zodiac.

There’s an openness to Joubert’s smile that makes us think she’s going to be a great Miss SA. We need someone who inspires us at the moment, and she may just have the opportunity to become one of the greats.

So, in this Women’s Month, we salute Natasha Joubert and wish her all the best as she shows the world what Saffa’s are made off.
