An enormous explosion that killed five people and destroyed three homes has been caught on CCTV and is doing the rounds on social media.

The huge fireball was captured from a house across the road in a neighbourhood in western Pennsylvania, USA.

In the video, the quiet residential street with its carefully mowed lawns is suddenly filled with fire and debris, with one house being reduced to rubble, while two others were engulfed in flames.

The bodies of four adults and a young person were recovered following the blast. Crews from at least 18 fire departments tackled the flames with the help of water tankers.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion, but say forensic testing could last “months if not years”.

Whatever the cause, things went south really badly, as the hectic video shows.
