While Taylor Swift is causing earthquakes and shaking economies, Britney Spears seems to be taking a ‘work from home’ approach to staying in the limelight.

The singer had the world in the palm of her hand a few decades ago, but recently she seems to only pop up in newsfeeds when she does something bizarre, and her latest ‘video release’ definitely has a weird desperation to it.

Britney returns to the stage, but this time at home after purchasing a raised platform with a pink stripper pole to show off her impressive dance moves.

Her 42 million followers were ‘treated’ to the NIN-backed gyration around her newly installed stripper pole as she swung, kicked, and twerked in a leopard print bikini that seemed to barely keep up with the energetic performance. Brit still has the moves though, even if it feels a bit, well, desperate.

“Got this pole two days ago and last night was my first time on it.”

Let’s be clear – we love Britney. She pulled pop music out of the slimy pit Madonna left it in during the early nineties. Even Cher got to have another go at the dance floor thanks to Britney and her fever-inducing school uniform. She remains an icon, but lately, her public appearances and videos have begun to have Housewives of New Jersey cringiness.

Not oblivious to her ballroom days being over, Britney also took the time to address another Housewives trend: Botox.

In typical ‘Britney in the 2020’s’ fashion, she said “F*** Botox, it is horrific.” She emphasised that “the cost” and “the needles” were other reasons why she was giving it up, also adding the chance that she could end up “looking like someone beat the s*** out of you”. Charming, and true.

In her lengthy Instagram caption attached to a video, Britney slammed the “so-called ‘best doctors'” who administer the injections, explaining she hadn’t had a good experience in the past.

“For probably 10 to 15 years, I haven’t had mine done right, and what’s with the times when one eyebrow is up and one is down?

Ahh, Britney. She really is the antidote to Taylor’s sweetness.
