This must be most people’s nightmare – finding a snake in your loo.
I’m getting hoendervleis just thinking about what the poor woman felt when discovering a massive snake wedged right into her toilet bowl.
Michelle Lespron from Tuscon, Arizona, had been away for four days when she returned home to find she had acquired an unwanted roommate:
The black and pink coachwhip snake measured up to 120cm and was quite content to stay in its new porcelain hidey-hole.
“I’d been gone for four days and was looking forward to using my own restroom in peace. I lifted up the lid and he or she was curled up … Thank God the lid was closed.”
Lespron’s first move was to ask her dad to help remove the reptile, but the snake was bunkered down for good. Even though these beautiful beasties are non-venomous, no one wanted to risk a painful full-frontal bite.
Enter Rattlesnake Solutions, a Phoenix-based company that specialises in removing unwanted snakes from American homes. Bryan Hughes, the owner of the service, came to the rescue and explained that it was rare to see a coachwhip so comfy in a residential bathroom, but added that it was not unheard off fr these snake species to sneak into local homes.
The slithery housemate put up a huge fuss while being removed by Rattlesnake Solutions, hissing and opening up an impressive jaw to show off some serious gnashers. Can you imagine those fangs biting your lady bits… sheesh.
Hughes and his team did such a great job calmly pulling out the distressed snake from the plumbing that many thought the whole thing was a “prank”, using a “pet snake”.
Even Lespron’s colleagues thought the whole thing was done for the jokes: “Even my law partner was like ‘Ha ha. Nice gag.’”
The whole drama was unfortunately very real, and Lespron admitted that she couldn’t use that specific bathroom in her house for three whole weeks after the incident. Wee-ing in the dark is also now a no-go for the Arizona lawyer.
We don’t blame her – it’s a huge NOPE from me.
