Just hours after famed musician Lizzo was accused of various forms of harassment and an inappropriate work environment, pop icon Beyoncé got away with giving off a subtle cold shoulder.
The news about Lizzo has pop fans reeling, as the star who seemingly supported all forms of empowerment, self-love and body positivity has been accused of pretty much all that is the antithesis of these values.
Fans of Queen B are notoriously meticulous and dedicated, so it’s no surprise that the ‘B-hive’ got to work immediately and figured out the connection between the Lizzo case and Beyoncé’s recent performance.
Fans managed to suss out that that Beyoncé may be pulling a specific move in response to Lizzo’s allegations when Queen B omitted Lizzo’s name during a live performance in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Tuesday.
Not even 24-hours after the news about Lizzo dropped, Beyoncé chose not to pay tribute to the curvy flute-playing muso as she usually would do in her ‘Break My Soul’ remix lyrics.
In the past, Beyoncé has typically used the remix to pay tribute to Black women performers and musicians, often naming industry queens Lauryn Hill, Kelly Rowland, Erykah Badu and Lizzo in the song.
It’s possible that Beyoncé did not want to become embroiled in the still-unfolding drama surrounding the allegations against Lizzo. Fans attending the live show this week watched as Queen B repeated Badu’s name over and over, while Lizzo’s name flashed up on the stage prompter screen, ignored.
Beyoncé seemingly skips over Lizzo’s name during the Queens Remix performance of ‘Break My Soul’ tonight at the Renaissance World Tour.
She instead repeats Erykah Badu’s name four times.

But while the point that Beyoncé was seemingly trying to make seems pretty obvious, her choice to switch up her lyrics at the live show has caused even more confusion and speculation.
Especially since, in a heated post, Queen B’s own mom, Tina Knowles, tuned netizens for their discussion around the show:
“She also didn’t say her own sister’s name [y’all] should really stop.”
Knowles is referring to the fact that Beyonce also chose to omit the name of her ‘sister’ from Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland.
It’s hard to know what B was really thinking, all we know is it’s a gargantuan coincidence that post-Lizzo allegations, Beyonce is making sure no heat comes her way.
