Breaststroke star Tatjana Schoenmaker grabbed South Africa’s first medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka as she took silver in the women’s 100m breaststroke final.
Schoenmaker had a slow start out of the blocks but pushed through in the final 25m to finish second in a time of 1.05.84.
Schoenmaker finished +01.22 behind gold medallist Ruta Meilutyte from Lithuania (1.04.92), while American Lydia Jacoby rounded up the podium with a bronze (1:05.94).
Ruta Meilutyte also reclaims the 100m Breaststroke title after winning a global final of the 100m breaststroke for the first time since 2013.
