Only in South Africa.
A video on Twitter that features a pair of overly confident armed robbers taking on the wrong taxi driver seems to sum up everything about our fragile South African psyche at the moment.
The video shows the usual dashcam footage of an unsuspecting driver picking up two passengers, except these guys were heading to ‘gimme-your-money street’, and they pulled out a pistol to rob the driver. Big mistake. After all, if you shoot the driver, who’s going to drive the taxi?
The driver appears to be terrified, but not stupid, and with a grinding of gears, the taxi speeds off with the two hapless criminals flopping around in the back like unsecured Takealot packages. Our driver resembles a devil driver at this stage as he hunches over the wheel while brushing off blows from the squealing robbers.
It’s both terrifying and funny as the robbers are obviously kakking themselves as they scream for their mommies. This could have ended badly for everyone, but luckily the driver managed to escape the vehicle after slowing down enough to let the robbers slip out with their shoes full of pee.
Gatvol South African 1, Scared sh*tless robbers 0.
Check it out, but be forewarned, it’s still a crime video so some of you may find the whole ordeal upsetting to watch:

Travis Bickle has nothing on this guy. We suggest this taxi driver and that Rambo cash truck driver start a driving school.
