Update: A reader has notified us that this could be for a sailor who passed away and requested his ashes to be sent to the deep in that spot. If indeed so, it’s a lovely gesture.
A video has been doing the rounds on social media that shows a submarine surfacing next to the coastline in Hout Bay harbour on Monday, and everyone has been wondering exactly who the mystery sub belongs to, and why an accompanying video shows men having a braai on board.
The video has been spreading like wildfire and shows a submarine surfaced close to the Hout Bay cliffs, but with no official marking except a blurry red number, and no news surfacing on any news sites about drills being conducted by the SA Navy, we would love to know who the men were that were having a lekker braai on board.
Of course, the fact that they were braaiing means it’s likely a South African vessel, but with dodgy Russian ships loading and offloading something in the night, and the SA Armed Forces apparently not being able to keep a canteen running, we can be forgiven for being curious.
For that matter, does anyone know who took the video and pictures? If this was you, drop us a line so we can find out more and add your name to the credit.
Whatsub?
Thanks, Tony.
