It seems to be the week for vehicles crashing into shop windows.
First, it was a MyCiti bus that crashed into Truth Coffee on Buitenkant Street in the CBD on Monday evening, and then yesterday, a 58-year-old woman rammed her car into a local shop in Hermanus.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said the driver was licenced, but that the police registered a reckless and negligent driving case against the woman.
News24 notes that the lady lost control of her grey Corsa vehicle and crashed into a local shop in Hermanus on Thursday afternoon, just after 1PM.
“The driver was still in the vehicle. A shopper was lying on his stomach outside the shop injured,” Van Wyk said.
Bystanders took videos of the scene, showing the busted car and the poor man lying on the floor, holding himself together after appearing to be hit:
Both the driver and the injured shopper, a 69-year-old man, were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, the police said.
It was a “normal traffic incident”, according to the chairperson of the Hermanus community policing forum, Eddie Halloway – whatever that means.
The investigation is in the works. What a way to start off the weekend, folks.
