Take that, James Cameron.
Fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have been drooling over their joysticks ever since a rogue developer leaked details about the upcoming Rockstar Games hit game, and according to those with their fingers on the X button, the game’s development is set to cost $2 billion (R36 billion).
This mind-boggling amount will then make everyone’s favourite anarchist wet dream the most expensive entertainment product ever made.
Rockstar Games still hasn’t said a word about Grand Theft Auto VI, which is presumably still in development and not expected to release this year. It’s no surprise considering the rumoured scale of the game, which is believed to be one of the biggest open worlds ever seen in a video game.

In a further strange development to the GTA-Leaks saga, the identified developer has been charged over the leaks, but according to Gaming Bible, he was deemed unfit to stand trial by psychiatrists. Guess that’s what endless hours of GTA would do to you.
Grand Theft Auto VI will see the return of the Miami-inspired location of Vice City, a location that fans of the series will be very familiar with. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the game is expected to be released sometime between 2024 to 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
So, while we speculate over just what a R36 billion videogame will look like, we at least have a small taste of what’s to come with the below trailer:
Bring on the carnage!
