South Africa’s second official musical instrument, after the vuvuzela, is the blaring sound of an alarm, and according to a video doing the rounds, people have zero sh*ts left to give.
It’s a well-known fact in Mzansi that when you are in trouble, real trouble, it’s better to yell “Fire!” than to press the alarm button.
People in our nation have become used to the sound of alarms braying in the background, whether it be houses, cars, or Pick n Pay’s exit scanners.
To prove this point, someone posted a video to TikTok which shows an extremely loud and menacing sounding alarm reverberating through Cape Town International Airport, whilst peeps can be seen strolling and sitting around as if it doesn’t even register on their ‘danger metres’.
It’s still unknown what the big hoo-ha was about, but have a look at the below clip on mute first, before you listen to the audio as well.
We’re either a nation of the coolest cats on the planet, or the national psyche doesn’t even register danger anymore.
