The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, has it all.
And by that, I mean a $400 million (R7,5 billion) superyacht with a dedicated SNOW ROOM alongside the controversial ‘Salvator Mundi’ painting – the world’s most expensive art piece – thought to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci among some.
Jeff Bezos’ $723 million superyacht can take a hike, and not just because its dark and bloody secrets were recently unveiled.
All in all, the Saudi royals are renowned for their expensive taste and extravagant lifestyle – even ensuring their football team is considered high flyers – and their completely OTT superyacht called Serene is the gold-leaf proof in the pudding.
Beyond its eye-watering price tag, the boat boasts a plethora of impressive numbers, per DMARGE:
“At 439 feet long (133 metres) and with 4 500 square feet (418 square metres) of space, it’s certainly one of the biggest yachts ever to come across our radar here at DMARGE and quite comfortably trumps the $500,000-a-week boat that infamous bachelor and baller Dan Bilzerian was seen chartering for the start of his ‘hot boy summer’.”
Size aside, the yacht has a really cool feature that actually sets it apart from the rest. That is its snow room, which is kept at a (literally) freezing temperature of -11 degrees Celsius with real snow that gently falls from the ceiling like some life-sized, billionaire-exclusive snow globe.
Considering the oppressive heat of the scorching Saudi summers, it must provide a welcome relief to the pampered royals. In fact, it was Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler who first had the idea for the chilly chamber because it reminded him of his sub-zero homeland. At least it is located directly next to the boat’s sauna.
Even Bill Gates succumbed to Serene’s charms, dropping a massive $5 million per week (R93 million) chartering the vessel, as reported by Luxury Launches.
Look past the colossal internal seawater pool, fully-equipped spa and Turkish baths, outdoor cinema and piano room, the host of high-octane toys and tenders, the two helipads, and seven sprawling decks to make sense of the excessive price tag because what really makes Serene an alluring expense is an infamous artwork:
In 2017, Mohammed bin Salman bought the Salvator Mundi for a staggering $450 million, and it now hangs on the yacht like a strange billionaire siren.
The excesses some people spend their money on will always be far and gone beyond me.
