It’s very exciting stuff – South Africa is showing off by becoming a snowy Winter wonderland.
Last night especially, parts of the Eastern Cape transformed into something straight out of a fairy tale. Us Saffas still glamourise the icy stuff because, as a rare occurrence in only some parts of our country at particular times in the year, we are not treated to it enough to quite get over it.
Although shame, I do wonder how the folks in the Eastern Cape are keeping up with the cold. Our houses are built for heat, not for snow. Anyway, residents in the Eastern Cape shared photos online, with most coming from a little area known as Barkly East and Lady Grey in the northeastern region of the Eastern Cape.

Even the doggies are enthralled:
The Citizen reported the South African Weather Service (SAWS) saying that several regions will be hit by these harsh conditions, including Molteno, Barkley East, Lady Grey and Matatiele.
More snow is supposed to come, with an alert issued for disruptive snowfall to impact the northeastern areas of the Eastern Cape. SAWS is warning about potential isolated livestock losses in the intense cold. There may also be several road closures in the southern Drakensberg region due to the snow.
Snowflakes have gracefully blanketed the Eastern Cape, turning it into a winter wonderland. Northern parts of the province like Barkley East https://t.co/H3xZK27eIH are expected to experience the same in coming days.

The Daily Maverick also has some marvellous shots of the delightful snowy blanket, which you can check out on their website.
