South African Twitter detectives went into a spasm recently when they discovered that rapper Jay-Z only followed a single person on Twitter. And that guy turned out to be a South African going by the handle @VusiMaxatshwa1.
Married to the Queen of America, Beyoncé, the mumbling rapper is estimated to be worth $2,5 billion (R37 billion), which makes his ‘Twitter circle’ so much more important to Twitter tweeps.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, has not followed anyone to date, not even his uber-famous wife, so it came as a shock when Twitter detective @ChrisExcel revealed that @VusiMaxatshwa1 got Jay-Z’s only nod of approval a few days ago.
As several users verified that Mr Carter did in fact follow Mavusana, the unexpected discovery sparked questions, celebrations, and hilarious reactions and sent @VusiMaxatshwa1 trending all over the platform.

@VusiMaxatshwa1 himself however was playing it cool, and only tweeted “Guys…It’s very simple. Real recognizes Real.”

This is not the first time that Mr Carter followed a single user, with his previous ‘follow’ also going to South Africa’s Thule Mgaga. Perhaps the US rapper-royalty wishes to be South African.
Unfortunately for Mgaga, and according to reports of the newly ‘knighted’ @VusiMaxatshwa1 as well, the follows appear to have been by mistake as both have now been unfollowed. Perhaps it was just a case of butt-following.
