The killer whales in the Strait Of Gibraltar are getting really ballsy.
Orcas may look like giant sea pandas, but they’re really more like swimming sociopaths. Since they have immeasurable intelligence, they definitely f*ck around with everyone and everything because they can, and they’ve been doing some really rowdy things to boats and yachts in the sliver of the sea that separates Africa from Europe.
Recently, a pod of killer whales has been making headlines for pounding any boat that passes in the Strait of Gibraltar, off the coast of Morocco, in an attempt to sink it.
Apparently, one vengeful female killer whale named White Gladis has been schooling her gang to attack yachts around the area, having already struck three boats, two of which sank. Researchers believe that Gladis has been seeking revenge after being traumatised by a collision with a boat or being trapped in illegal fishing nets. She must be a Scorpio. In fact, all Orcas must be Scorpios.
Anyway, videos have emerged showing killer whales going on their rampages, causing boats to limp back to port. A new one has just surfaced of orcas attacking a sailboat in the Strait of Gibraltar, ripping its two rudders off in less than 15 minutes only to play with the debris like they’re giant tantrum-throwing children.
LiveScience reports that one of the orcas even came back for more as the crew headed inshore, chasing the boat all the way to the marina in Sotogrande, Spain, where it tore off what was left of the rudders.
“They went directly for the rudders,” Dan Kriz, a skipper who was aboard the catamaran and delivering it for the Florida-based company Catamaran Guru, told Live Science in an email. “The whole thing took about 10 to 15 minutes.”
Apparently, on its way to the Canary Islands on April 15, a pod of four or five orcas, at least three of them juveniles, launched their conniving attack:
It is remarkable how targeted and efficient they are. This TikToker sums them up pretty well:

So this is actually the second time that Kriz has been confronted by orcas in the Strait of Gibraltar:
Three years ago, when the attacks first started, his crew was one of the first to experience the Iberian orcas’ unusual behaviour, when a pod of eight circled and nudged the yacht for over an hour.
Researchers have since recorded over 500 cases of orcas bumping against boats, three of them resulting in sinking.
