A Belgium dad took pranking to a cruel new level when he faked his own death to see if his family really cared about him.
45-Year-old TikTokker, David Baerten, put together the elaborate joke with the help of his wife and children who helped him plan for the big day, ostensible so he could find out if the people in his life really loved him.
The scam was put into motion by his daughter who put a heartfelt post on social media, writing “Rest in peace Daddy. I will never stop thinking about you.” To really sell the heartache, she laid it on thick after that.
“Why is life so unfair? Why you? You were going to be a grandfather, and you still had your whole life ahead of you. I love you! We love you! We will never forget you.”
The family then went about planning the funeral in what must be the most fun internment arrangements ever. The funeral was held in his hometown of Liege, and as the mourners were gathered around the grave, they were astonished by the sight of a helicopter landing. Baerten and a camera crew exited the aircraft in TikTok style.
Baerten walked up to the grieving group and reportedly said “Cheers to you all, welcome to my funeral.”
The now-not-deceased father explained that “I never get invited to anything. Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated.”
Check out the video of his return from the dead below and decide for yourself if this guy had a point, or was just being cruel.
