The ‘it moms’ of the City of Gold are joining forces in a new reality TV show to make our heads shake and eyes pop.
The Mommy Club follows five posh Jozi ‘momfluencers’ navigating the challenges of parenting and status as they spend and spend like there’s no tomorrow.
One glam mom, Nunurai Mudarikwa, also a planner of upscale events, whipped out a whopping R250 000 to celebrate her son Zidan turning one. The kid won’t have a single memory of the lavish affair, but the OTT event will sure as hell haunt me.
TimesLIVE notes that the swanky safari-themed party takes centre stage in the premiere of the eight-part Showmax series, featuring a mobile bar for the adults, popcorn, slushy and sweet stations, a massive cake, countless balloons, floral arrangements and a deli.
“Initially we invited about 100 guests, including parents and children, but in the end we had 130 people. The R250,000 included the food and of course lots of alcohol. Because I’m a décor person I had to make it really detailed and beautiful.”
The kid was also dressed head to toe in Burberry, dah.

Viewers will be treated to the glamorous life of these five women going about their day-to-day with their brigade of nannies and other sumptuous child-rearing antics:
Zinzi Velelo Alake, the executive producer who also produced This Body Works For Me and true-crime anthology Imibuzo, said she chose “these mommies because they are all fabulous, hard-working black women who have it all”.
Check out this sneak peek:
Manche says that she is certain mothers from all walks of life will identify despite them living in exclusive homes, driving flashy cars and wearing designer clothes:
“Apart from the glamour, we are relatable because we are mothers.
“It doesn’t mean that if you are wearing the fancy clothing and looking good you don’t have the challenges of motherhood.”
The mother of three and founder of Motherland Shapewear has a nanny and au pair to help care for her children, all aged under four.
The Mommy Club will premiere on Showmax on June 27.
