Amy Schumer is calling out celebrities who are “lying” about using Ozempic, telling them to “shut the f–k up”.

You don’t get to look ‘normal’ if you’re an A-lister, which is why many celebs are turning to what has been dubbed “the worst-kept secret in Hollywood”, the prolific weight loss drug called Ozempic.

The injectable Semaglutide drug is actually used to treat type 2 diabetes, improve blood sugar and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events for adults with the condition. A rep for the Danish big pharma company Novo Nordisk previously told E! News that Ozempic is “not approved for chronic weight management”, but since a primary side effect is dramatic weight loss, folks who don’t even really need it are buying it and shedding their extra bits.

Schumer reckons it’s way more prevalent than celebs are letting on:

“Everyone and their mom is gonna try it. Everyone has been lying saying, ‘Oh, smaller portions,'” she said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on June 8.

“Like, shut the f–k up. You are on Ozempic or one of those things, or you got work done. Just stop.”

She confirmed that she’s never been one to shy away from the truth of medical/cosmetic intervention:

“Be real with the people,” the comedian added. “When I got lipo, I said I got lipo.”

Then, the I Feel Pretty star also admitted to taking Ozempic herself “like, a year ago”:

…However, it was not “livable” and hindered her abilities to spend time with her and husband Chris Fischer’s 4-year-old son, Gene.

“I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son,” she recalled, “I was so skinny, and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t].”

Jokes aside, Ozempic doesn’t seem like a sustainable choice. It basically makes you feel fuller for longer so you eat less. Yup, that sure does sound healthy.

There are a couple of celebs who have been honest about using the diabetes med. Page Six notes how Chelsea Handler told Call Her Daddy podcast listeners that she had formerly taken the drug without realising it:

“My anti-aging doctor just hands it out to anybody,” the former “Chelsea Lately” host, 48, explained at the time. “She said, ‘If you ever want to drop five pounds, this is good.’”

Handler clarified that she was not “on it anymore” despite considering herself an “irresponsible drug user.”

“I’m not gonna take a diabetic drug,” she said. “I’m not gonna do that. That’s not right for me.”

Shahs of Sunset alum Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi also got candid about using shots of Semaglutide, the generic version of the weight-loss drug:

“I don’t see a reason to hide being on a weight loss [medication] or a cosmetic procedure,” Golnesa told Entertainment Tonight May 18, “just talk about it because there’s so many people out there who want to do the same thing or they want to learn about what you did.”

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dolores Catania as well as Tim McGraw’s daughter Gracie have gone on the record as being fans of the drug, too.
