Horrific footage has emerged that shows a Russian man being killed by a shark at a popular Egyptian beach.

The footage was taken by an eyewitness on the beach, and it’s reported that the man’s father had to watch helplessly from the beach as the shark ate his son.

The video shows a huge splash and commotion in the water as the man is dragged under, while terrified onlookers scream for help. One onlooker could be heard saying “It’s eating his remains now,” as the ghastly scene unfold.

Egyptian authorities have reported that a tiger shark was responsible for the man’s death near the Elysees Dream Beach Hotel at the popular Egyptian resort of Hurghada. The man has been identified as 23-year-old Vladimir Popov and has been living in the country for several months.

Popov’s girlfriend reportedly managed to escape the water unscathed.

“It happened in a second. Rescuers reacted very quickly. For some reason, I immediately felt that it was a shark. I immediately jumped up and started shouting: ‘Sharks, sharks! Save yourself!’ Nobody understood.”

Shark attacks are rare in Red Sea coastal regions.
