A very suspect set of bones was found at the popular Main Beach in Melkbosstrand near “Slabber se Klippe” over the weekend.
While the Western Cape police investigate the skeletal remains of the suspected human limb found on June 3, our imaginations are firing in all directions.
Chairperson of the Melkbosstrand community police forum (CPF), Samie Kleynhans, said he wasn’t sure if the mysterious phalanges are human or not, per News24:
“This is not the first time skeletons have been found in the area. We have had drownings and found skeletons washed up onto the beach in the area,” he added.
“It looks like a human foot, but it could also be that of a seal. The authorities have taken it, and we are yet to receive feedback on the investigation.”

It is unclear how long the body part was on the beach, but it looks properly swollen and bedraggled:
“We don’t like this kind of news as it is concerning and traumatic, because no one knows who it belongs to. It could have been swept out by sea, but the forensic team will determine that once they have completed the investigations,” Kleynhans said.
Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that the “limb” had been sent to their pathology services for a post-mortem. No feedback has been given from the pathology report yet.
Could it be the remains of a desperately lonely wife whose husband ordered “the gays” to kill her onboard a yacht in Italy so that he could steal her fortune? It can’t be that of the Louisiana teen who jumped from a pleasure boat and into shark-infested waters in the Bahamas, could it? There’s a chance it is also an unfortunate sailor who sunk after being knocked into the water by vengeful killer whales.
The ocean is a dark and mysterious place where the laws that govern us on land are mere whispers in the wind – ask any yachtie -so who knows?
