A Louisiana teen who jumped from the pleasure boat and into shark-infested waters during an end-of-school trip may have been eaten by sharks according to officials.
The tragic story of a dare gone wrong has been circulating on social media as people try to figure out what happened to 18-year-old Cameron Robbins. Footage has emerged that shows revellers on the pleasure cruise yelling at the teen after he jumped from the ship and into the dark waters in the Bahamas.
The chaotic video was taken moments after the jump and also shows the Baton Rouge native ignoring pleas for him to grab a buoy, swimming in the opposite direction instead. This has prompted several people to point to a ‘shadowy shape’ that seemed to be between the buoy and the teenager.
Onlookers believe that the shape was a shark, and this explains why the boy swam away from the buoy. One Twitter sleuth even declared; “Haunting, but you can see the exact moment the shark gets him.”
Footage shows Cameron Robbins, 18, who jumped off a cruise ship in the Bahamas as a dare on Wednesday 5/24/23. He has still not been found and the search has been suspended.

The ship, The Blackbeard’s Revenge, circled the area for hours, but in the darkness, it proved impossible to find Cameron. The Coastguard was also involved, but called off the search after two days, covering nearly 325 square miles (840 square kilometres).
Royal Bahamas Defense Force (RBDF) Commodore Raymond King told reporters that the waters around Athol Islands are ‘really shark infested’.
Cameron disappeared three days after his graduation from University Laboratory School. He was staying at Atlantis Paradise Island with a group of fellow seniors from other high schools.
